Buying Quality Art is an Investment
Here are the original works of artist Phillip Philbeck. While lithographs and giclées are beautiful, these are still reproductions and can be reprinted. An original is one of a kind and can't be reproduced so easily, especially one that takes months to complete using the artists own blood, toil, tears, and sweat. This is the root from which any reproduction might come. Art is a long term investment and collecting can be a part of one's asset portfolio. Many of the world's most emminent and wealthy individuals are keen collectors. Don't buy original art merely as an investment, though. It should, in addition to being an investment, enrich the spirit of the buyer, look great where it is hanging, and be in a place where it is loved and appreciated. Buying an original can be a big investment so please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
We constantly seek to increase collector value through private and auction sales. Have a scene in mind you'd love to see immortalized on canvas? Commission Phillip to do a special work just for you! Click here.
There is nothing like an original. It is the physical extension of an artist's soul. Only the very finest materials go into the making of these paintings. Canvas is Belgian linen, sized and primed with an oil ground . Paints are factory ground in cold-pressed linseed oil while the museum style stretchers are painstakingly cut and milled by the artist. The most important aspect is the time and master touch of the artist involved in each painting. This can't be stamped out by a machine and mass produced in a factory. It is the life experiences and love of the craft that give each work uniqueness and the inimitable style of the artist. These works are not churned out in a couple of days or a week. Most works of "average" size take at least one month of continuous work(frequently more) and sometimes up to several months for larger works.
