Hatteras Calm - At a height of 193ft., the Cape Hatteras lighthouse is the tallest in the United States. This painting shows the light before it was moved 1500 ft. inland to protect it from the waves of the Atlantic which had eroded the shoreline precariously close to it's foundation. To me, though, there is no better place for a lighthouse than next to the drama of the pounding waves. Release date 1998
